PROFILE

The Course was begun in the year 1996. Since then it has been producing excellent Computer Science graduates who are the pillars in the current and emerging information era. The teaching methodology adopted here includes student seminar, visual demo using computer and LCDprojectors, industrial visit, group discussion, guest lecture by experts, video conferencing lectures and real time projects. Excellent academicians and a sophisticated computing environment further complement the learning process. The department thus prepares the students to face confidently the real time challenges posed in the I.T. Industry.
Course overview
A course in Computer Science imparts upto date software and hardware knowledge and skills and churns out well qualified software developers in the areas of Computer Science who can bring about qualitative difference in computer field. Students acquire in depth technical knowledge and practical application skills in all disciplines of Information technology and Computer Science and ability to understand and solve industrial problems and other areas of research development. This U.G. programme focuses on several key areas in the following fields of Computer Science.

I year
Students learn the basics of computer through papers like Programming in C, Object oriented programming using C++, and Digital design enabling them to have a sound foundation.
II year
Focuses on enhancing their core knowledge through papers like Computer architecture, Data structure , Microprocessor, Java programming and Visual Basic. They also gain knowledge through skill based subjects like Flash and Dreamweaver. In addition, knowledge on other subjects are imparted through non-major papers .
III year
Students learn the application oriented papers like .NET Technologies , Computer graphics and Multimedia and Web Technology. They also become familiar with the papers like Operating systems, Data mining, Software Engineering, RDBMS and Computer Networks and Data Communications. At the last semester they bring to application all the knowledge gained in the previous semesters through the software development lab.

STAFF ACHIEVEMENT

Mrs A.S.I. Joy Sinthiya presented a paper on “Growth characteristics of Lasparagine crystals admixture with cesicorn chloride” at an International Conference organized by Material and charateriction techniques VIT, from 10th to 12st March 2014 at VIT, Vellore., Mrs A.S.I. Joy Sinthiya also presented papers on ““Growth Structural Studies of Lasparagine crystals admixtured with lithium chloride”, at the National Seminar on Current trends in chemistry at A.P.C.M. College, Thoothukudi, “Growth structural studies of lasparagine crystals admixtured with Ammonium Chloride” at a National Seminar on UGC Sponsored Innovative Trends in material science ITNS organized by the Dept.of Phyiscs at Arigner Anna College at Aralvaymoli on 23rd and 24th Aug 2013. She has also presented yet another paper on “Synthesis, Growth and studies of Lasparagine Lithium surptate crystal” at a National Seminar in September 2013 at Annai Velankanni College, Tholayavattam.
