IQAC

        As per the guidelines from NAAC, we established the Quality Advisory Committee (QAC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in 2004. At present as per the revised guidelines of the NAAC, 2007, IQAC has been constituted, accommodating external experts also.Quest for excellence propelled the Institution to establish the Internal Quality Assurance Cell. IQAC was established on 28.12.2004 and since then acts as the nodal unit and devises the Action Plan and Strategies for implementation. IQAC has developed following mechanism to ensure quality in education.

  • Identifying educational, social and material demands of the students.
  • Need assessment through feedback mechanism and taking initiatives to redesign the activities
  • Affording value addition and course enrichment activities.
  • Intensifying participatory learning methods like preparing learning aids, conducting students centred activities like workshops, seminars, Quiz programmes and group discussions.
  • Activities that reflect the goals and objectivities of the institution are well planned and executed.

OUTCOME:

  • Regular submission of Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) to the NAAC Office, since 2004.
  • Regular submission of Annual Self-Study Reports by all the Departments.
  • A Students’ Charter, an act of promoting student participation in Quality Assurance was prepared and disseminated in 2006.
  • A Two-Day workshop on “Personality Refinement” for outgoing students was organized on 13.03.2007 and 14.03.2007.
  • An orientation on “How can an Institution prepare for Reaccreditations” was arranged on 20.01.2006 and the special invitee was Dr.Nirmala Prasad, Principal M.O.P.Vaishnav College, Chennai.
  • Students centred workshop on “ Student Participation in Quality Assurance” was conducted on 29.02.2008.
  • As a part of career support services an exclusive training on “Soft Skills” was arranged on 04.02.2008 and 06.02.2008.
  • A workshop on “Quality Assurance through Student Involvement” was conducted on 24.10.2008.
  • An orientation lecture on “Quality in Higher Education” was extended by Dr.A.R.Veeramani, Registrar, Tamilnadu Teacher Education University, Chennai on 23.01.2009.
  • A Series of Lectures on “Qualities in Life” were arranged for outgoing students on 08.04.2009 and 09.04.2009.
  • NAAC sponsored Two Day National Seminar on “Enhancing continuous Quality Management through IQAC in Higher Education Institutions” was conducted on 20.08.2009 and 21.08.2009.
  • TANSCHE Sponsored state level seminar on “Best Practices Bench Marking in Higher Education Institutions” was conducted on 09.04.2009.
  • Workshops on “Right To Education” (16.07.2010), “Career Opportunities – Responding the Situation (19.10.2010), aptitude test on “News Reading” (13.10.2010) “Our Learning Experiences” (04.02.2011) and Book-reading competition (2011) were also conducted by IQAC.
