DESCRIPTION:The Department of Zoology\, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, organized a Swachhata Pakhwada activity on 16th September 2025 at Dr. M. Varadharajan Hall from 1.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. for the students of I\, II\, and III B.Sc. Zoology. The programme\, titled “Mosquito Warriors and Vermicompost Heroes\,” aimed to create awareness among students about ecological practices\, mosquito control\, and sustainable waste management. Through engaging demonstrations and discussions\, students were sensitized on the importance of biological control methods and the role of vermicomposting in promoting environmental cleanliness. The activity successfully instilled a sense of responsibility and commitment among the participants towards a cleaner and greener environment.

Selvalatha\, Dr. M. Rasi\, and Dr. J. Beulah\, who highlighted the importance of the film in relation to the students’ personal and academic growth. \n \nThe program concluded with an interactive feedback session where students shared their reflections on the movie and its relevance to their lives. The event was well received and appreciated and making it a memorable and impactful experience.

She demonstrated a variety of creative and professional saree pleating styles that highlighted elegance\, confidence\, and cultural pride. \n \nThe programme provided our students with practical knowledge\, enhancing their grooming and presentation skills. It was an interactive and inspiring session where participants actively engaged and learned the nuances of styling. \nThe event was both informative and enjoyable\, leaving everyone motivated to embrace traditional attire with a modern touch. \n🌸 We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Praveena Bala for her valuable guidance and enriching session. 🌸

DESCRIPTION:The PG Department of Computer Science\, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, organized a one-day workshop on “Crafted with Creative Tools” in collaboration with Ant Creative Career Academy on 11th September 2025. The resource person\, Mr. A. Balasubramanian\, Director of Ant Creative Career Academy\, introduced the students to a range of creative software tools. The sessions included demonstrations on design principles such as layout\, color schemes\, and logo placement\, along with career guidance on opportunities in the creative field. Around 82 students from I B.Sc. Computer Science and I BCA benefitted from the programme. Students actively participated in the hands-on sessions and explored various creative tools for designing and digital art. The workshop successfully instilled creativity\, technical knowledge\, and confidence among students\, encouraging them to think innovatively and explore potential career paths in the creative industry. It effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and practical application.

SUMMARY:Teachers' Day 2025 - 05.09.2025
DESCRIPTION:The PG & Research Department of English\, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, celebrated Teachers’ Day in a memorable manner with a series of programmes. As part of the celebration\, a Staff Trip was arranged on 5th September 2025 to Gundaru Dam and Falls and Mekkarai Amusement Park. The trip provided relaxation\, fun\, and togetherness for the faculty members. \n \n \nFollowing the trip\, a formal Teachers’ Day celebration was organized on 8th September 2025 at 1.00 p.m. in the Dr. M. Varadharajan Hall under the theme “A Tribute to Teachers”. The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Monica Ramraj\, Head & Associate Professor of English. Dr. K. Subbulakshmi\, Principal\, delivered the Felicitation Address\, appreciating the tireless service and dedication of the teachers. To make the occasion more engaging\, exciting games were conducted\, and motivational videos were shown to inspire the teachers. As a token of gratitude\, a keychain souvenir was gifted to all faculty members. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. T. Lilly Golda\, Associate Professor of English. \n \n \nThis central celebration was further enriched as the students of various departments organized department-wise celebrations to honour their respective staff members with love and gratitude. Thus\, the Teachers’ Day 2025 celebrations combined recreation\, appreciation\, and joyful participation\, making it an unforgettable event for both teachers and students.

DESCRIPTION:The PG Department of Computer Science\, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, in association with Vienstereoptic\, Thoothukudi\, organized a One-Week Workshop on “Python Programming” from 01.09.2025 to 04.09.2025 & 08.09.2025.The workshop provided students with hands-on training in Python. Each day\, various tasks related to the topics taught were assigned\, enabling students to practice and strengthen their programming skills. To maintain enthusiasm and engagement\, fun activities were conducted intermittently. Apart from technical training\, students were also motivated and guided for interviews. They were trained to prepare professional resumes and were encouraged to update their LinkedIn profiles regularly. Mr. Joan\, HA Accountant\, delivered a motivational talk\, while Ms. Jothi Mariammal and Mrs. Muthulakshmi served as the Software Trainers for the sessions. A total of 68 students from II B.Sc. Computer Science and II B.C.A. benefitted from this programme. The workshop concluded with student feedback and the distribution of certificates.

The event was organised in partnership with the Book Sellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) and the Thoothukudi District Book Fair Organising Committee\, under the leadership of Thoothukudi Collector Mr. K. Elambahavath. \nIn this prestigious event\, our students achieved commendable success: \n\n\nMs. Mahabharathi\, III B.Sc Chemistry\, from the P.G. & Research Department of Chemistry\, secured Second Place in Book Review and Elocution\, and Third Place in Debate. She was honoured by the Additional Collector with a cash prize of Rs. 2000. \n\n\nMs. S. Maheswari\, III B.Sc Physics\, from the Department of Physics\, won First Place in Book Review and Elocution\, and Third Place in Debate. Rathna\, delivered a Valedictory Address\, reflecting on the importance of such competitions in shaping confident and intellectually sharp young leaders. \nDr. N. Rathna delivering the Valedictory Address\nIn the General Knowledge Quiz\, X’an Matric Higher Secondary School emerged as the champions\, winning Rs. 3000 and a Silver Rolling Shield\, followed by D.M.N.S. Dr. Sivanthi Adithanar Matriculation School with the second prize of Rs. 2000\, and St. Joseph’s Girls’ Higher Secondary School with the third prize of Rs. 1000. \nWinners of General Quiz – X’an Matric Hr. Sec. School\, Thoothukudi\nIn the Science Quiz\, SPIC Nagar Higher Secondary School clinched the first prize\, receiving Rs. 3000 and a Silver Rolling Shield\, while Subbiah Vidhyalayam Girls’ Higher Secondary School bagged the second prize of Rs. 2000\, and X’an Matric Higher Secondary School took home the third prize of Rs. 1000. \nWinners of Science Quiz – SPIC Nagar Higher Secondary School\nIn the Mathematics Quiz\, the first prize of Rs. 3000 along with a Silver Rolling Shield was secured by Smt. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, in collaboration with Alpha Academy\, Coimbatore\, organized a One Day Workshop on “Overview on Literature in NET Perspective” on 7th August 2025 at Dr. A.L. Mudaliar Hall. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. K.A. Pauline and Ms. A. Amreen Farjana\, Assistant Professors of English. The resource person\, Ms. Sabarna Suresh\, M.A.\, NET\, M.Sc. Yoga\, founder of Alpha Academy\, Coimbatore\, and a multiple-time NET qualifier\, delivered the sessions. The workshop was structured into two sessions: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.\n\nThe programme commenced with a prayer song\, followed by a welcome address by Ms. A. Amreen Farjana. In the morning session\, the resource person provided a comprehensive overview of British Literature from the perspective of the NET syllabus. The afternoon session focused on memory techniques and shortcut methods to recall facts effectively\, along with an emphasis on the significance of Paper I. A quiz competition was also conducted to enhance engagement\, and scores were awarded to motivate participants. DESCRIPTION:The National Service Scheme (Unit No. 47 & 57) and the Anti-Drug Cell of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, jointly organized a seminar on Cyber Security on 6th August 2025 at the college auditorium. The session featured two distinguished advocates as chief guests. Mrs. Rajalakshmi B.Sc.\, B.L.\, an alumna of the college (2004–2006)\, and a member of SPARK\, addressed the audience from 1.30 to 2.15 p.m. on the topic “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu.” The second session was led by Mrs. Rajamahizhndha B.A.\, B.L.\, Advocate at the District Court\, Thoothukudi\, who spoke from 2.20 to 3.00 p.m. on “Cyber Safety and Social Media Threats.” The event was coordinated by Dr. H. Kohila Subathra Christy\, Anti-Drug Cell Coordinator\, along with Dr. C. Stella Packiam and Dr. M. Pushpagavalli\, NSS Programme Officers.

DESCRIPTION:ஏ.பி.சி. மகாலட்சுமி மகளிர் கல்லூரியின் முதுகலை மற்றும் தமிழாய்வு மையம் 2025–2026 ஆம் கல்வியாண்டிற்கான தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்றத்தின் தொடக்க விழாவை 01.08.2025 அன்று காலை 11.00 மணிக்கு கல்லூரிக் கலையரங்கத்தில் சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது. \n  \nஇவ்விழாவில் வரவேற்புரையை முனைவர் ச. மல்லிகா\, இணைப்பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் தமிழ்த்துறைத் தலைவர் ஆற்றினார். கல்லூரி முதல்வர் முனைவர் க. சுப்புலட்சுமி அவர்கள் விழாவிற்கு வாழ்த்துரையளித்தார்.  \nசிறப்பு விருந்தினராகக் கலந்து கொண்ட கவிஞர் மு. செல்லா\, மாவட்டத் தலைவர்\, தமிழ்நாடு கலை இலக்கியப் பெருமன்றம்\, மதுரை\, “தமிழ் இலக்கியங்கள் காட்டும் அழகியல்” என்ற தலைப்பில் சிறப்புரை வழங்கினார். நன்றியுரையை முனைவர் சு. விஜயா கலைவாணி\, இணைப்பேராசிரியர் ஆற்றினார். இந்த நிகழ்வு மாணவிகளுக்குத் தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தின் அழகு\, ஆழம் மற்றும் அருமையைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளும் அரிய வாய்ப்பாக அமைந்தது.
