The event was organised in partnership with the Book Sellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) and the Thoothukudi District Book Fair Organising Committee\, under the leadership of Thoothukudi Collector Mr. K. Elambahavath. \nIn this prestigious event\, our students achieved commendable success: \n\n\nMs. Mahabharathi\, III B.Sc Chemistry\, from the P.G. & Research Department of Chemistry\, secured Second Place in Book Review and Elocution\, and Third Place in Debate. She was honoured by the Additional Collector with a cash prize of Rs. 2000. \n\n\nMs. S. Maheswari\, III B.Sc Physics\, from the Department of Physics\, won First Place in Book Review and Elocution\, and Third Place in Debate. Fourteen higher secondary schools from across Thoothukudi enthusiastically participated in this annual academic extravaganza\, showcasing the brilliance and competitive spirit of young minds. \nParticipants registering at the Registration Desk.\nThe inaugural session commenced with a warm and inspiring Welcome Address delivered by the Principal\, Dr. K. Subbulakshmi\, setting the tone for a day of knowledge\, challenge\, and camaraderie. The contest featured three categories – Mathematics Quiz\, Science Quiz\, and General Knowledge Quiz – each designed to rigorously test the participants’ depth of knowledge\, presence of mind\, and teamwork. \n  \nInaugural Address by our Principal ma’am – Dr. K. Rathna delivering the Valedictory Address\nIn the General Knowledge Quiz\, X’an Matric Higher Secondary School emerged as the champions\, winning Rs. 3000 and a Silver Rolling Shield\, followed by D.M.N.S. Dr. Sivanthi Adithanar Matriculation School with the second prize of Rs. 2000\, and St. Joseph’s Girls’ Higher Secondary School with the third prize of Rs. 1000. \nWinners of General Quiz – X’an Matric Hr. Sec. Mudaliar Hall. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. K.A. Pauline and Ms. A. Amreen Farjana\, Assistant Professors of English. The resource person\, Ms. Sabarna Suresh\, M.A.\, NET\, M.Sc. Yoga\, founder of Alpha Academy\, Coimbatore\, and a multiple-time NET qualifier\, delivered the sessions. The workshop was structured into two sessions: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.\n\nThe programme commenced with a prayer song\, followed by a welcome address by Ms. A. Amreen Farjana. In the morning session\, the resource person provided a comprehensive overview of British Literature from the perspective of the NET syllabus. The afternoon session focused on memory techniques and shortcut methods to recall facts effectively\, along with an emphasis on the significance of Paper I. A quiz competition was also conducted to enhance engagement\, and scores were awarded to motivate participants. The workshop concluded with feedback from students\, who expressed that the sessions had enriched their understanding of key literary concepts\, authors\, and movements relevant to the NET examination. Mahalakshmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, organized a community service programme on 28th July 2025 at Government Higher Secondary School\, Mudivaithanendhal. \nThe event\, jointly coordinated by the National Service Scheme Units 47 and 57\, featured a tree plantation drive\, nature-themed games\, an awareness lecture\, and a street play\, all aimed at promoting environmental consciousness. \n \nThe awareness lecture\, held on the theme “Protect Nature – Let’s Protect the Bio-Environment\,” was delivered by Dr. K. Saravana Kumar\, Editor and Green Force Coordinator\, in the esteemed presence of Mr. J.S. Elias\, Principal of the host school\, Shri. Satish Kumar\, Hon. Magaja\, Mr. Srinivasan (PG Tamil Teacher)\, and Mr. Gerald (PG Teacher). Their collective insights inspired the students to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute actively to environmental preservation. To reinforce the message\, paper bags\, vegetable seeds\, and horticultural saplings were distributed to students\, encouraging sustainable alternatives to plastic usage. \nThe saplings were planted within the school premises by the Headmaster\, Dr. Saravana Kumar\, and the NSS Coordinators of both units. A cleanliness drive was also undertaken by the school students\, promoting hygiene and responsibility. In a practical session\, Dr. Saravana Kumar provided training on waste segregation and the preparation of vermicompost\, highlighting efforts undertaken by women self-help groups and swachhagrahis as part of the National Welfare Mission. Seeds and cloth bags were also distributed to the general public at the nearby bus stand\, further extending the campaign’s impact. The entire event was efficiently organized under the guidance of Dr. C. Stella Packiam (NSS Unit 47)\, Assistant Professor of Chemistry\, and Dr. M. Pushpagavalli (NSS Unit 57)\, Assistant Professor of Tamil. The programme witnessed active participation from 15 students and 3 faculty members\, leaving a meaningful impression on the community and reinforcing the college’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

SUMMARY:World Nature Conservation Day - 2025 - ECO Club Contests
DESCRIPTION:In commemoration of World Nature Conservation Day – 2025\, the ECO Club of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, in collaboration with Dhrangadhra Chemical Works Limited (DCW Ltd.)\, is pleased to announce a series of competitions aimed at raising awareness and encouraging active participation in environmental conservation. The events include a Photography contest on “Biodiversity of Thoothukudi”\, a PowerPoint Presentation competition on “Reduce Your Carbon Footprint”\, and a Speech contest focusing on “The Role of Students in Protecting the Environment.” Students are invited to submit their entries on or before 25th July 2025 to apcmecoclub@gmail.com. The winners will be felicitated on 28th July 2025 during the observance of World Nature Conservation Day. The event is coordinated by Dr. V. Sornalakhshmi\, Assistant Professor of Botany\, and Dr. K. Bala Deepa Arasi\, Assistant Professor of Mathematics. All are encouraged to participate and contribute towards nurturing a greener tomorrow.

Their discerning evaluation helped identify outstanding talents among the freshers. \nThe event provided a joyful and encouraging platform for students to exhibit their creative abilities. The best performers across various events were honoured with prizes\, marking an energetic and inspiring start to their college life.
