Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\nTwo Day National Seminar on “Anthropological Research: A Multidimensional Approach” \n03.08.2022 & 04.08.2022\nA two day national seminar on “Anthropological Research: A Multidimensional Approach” was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell of  A. P. C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi in association with International Institute of Tamil Studies\, Tharamani\, Chennai on 3rd August and 4th August 2022 to provide deep insights about anthropology\, to emphasise the importance of anthropological research and to study every aspect of human existence.   \nThiru. K. Ramesh\, Deputy Director\, Office of the Commissionerate\, Welfare of Non Resident Tamil and Rehabilitation Department\, Chennai\, Mr. A. V. Sathish\, Scientific Officer from Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant\, Dr. Kalpana Kandasamy\, Senior Consultant\, Anesthesiology cum Critical Care\, Chennai\, Dr. V. R. Pavithra\, Associate Professor\, Faculty of Arts and Culture\, International Institute of Tamil Studies\, Chennai were the Resource persons.   \nThe two day seminar began with the welcome address of Dr. S. Banumathi\, Head and Associate Professor\, PG and Research Department of Tamil followed by lighting of the lamp by our Principal Dr. P. Bala Shanmuga Devi and the chief guests.   \nThe Principal also graced the occasion by her felicitation address and honouring the chief guests. \nOn behalf of the International Institute of Tamil Studies\, Chennai\, Dr. Pavithra honoured our Principal by presenting a memento. Dr. Pavithra introduced the theme of the seminar by briefing the concept of anthropology and insisted the participants to give importance to education.  The inaugural session came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. T. Lilly Golda\, Coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college.  \n The first session of the seminar started at 11:15 a.m. with Mr. Ramesh who delivered a speech on the topic “International Migration: Aims\, Challenges and Difficulties”. Mr. Ramesh gave a detailed information about the assistance offered by and the activities of the welfare of Non-Resident Tamil and Rehabilitation Department to protect Indians who go abroad for employment purpose. \n The second session was taken over by Mr. A. V. Sathish at 2:00 p.m. who addressed on the topic “Nature\, Science\, Technology and Human Development”.  Mr. Satish made the session informative and enthusiastic by explaining the importance of developing science and technology by considering the negative effects of both\, advising the students to use scientific temper. In addition\, he also gave information about nature inspired technologies and the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.   \nThe second day of the national seminar began with the welcome address of Dr. T. Lilly Golda\, Coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell on 4th August 2022 at 10:00 a.m.   \nThe resource person Dr. Kalpana Kandasamy\, Senior Consultant\, Anesthesiology cum Critical Care\, Chennai gave an excellent and understandable presentation on the topic “Approaches to Medical Anthropology”. She focused on the three theoretical approaches that exist in understanding human health.   \nDr. V. R. Pavithra took over the last session of the two day national seminar at 11:15 a.m. by delivering a lecture on the topic “Social Anthropological Research”.  She insisted the participants to conduct research in the field of social anthropology in order to find the ways in which people live in  different social and cultural settings across the world. Dr. Pavithra also motivated the students to do more projects related to the other branches of anthropology like archaeology\, biology\, culture and linguistics.   \nFaculty\, research scholars and students presented their research articles in ICT halls.   \nCertificates were distributed to all the participants and Dr. S. Mary Suba Selvarani\, Assistant Professor\, PG and Research Department of Tamil proposed the vote of thanks.   \nTotally\, 184 students\, scholars and faculty from various colleges attended the seminar.   \nThe arrangements for the seminar were made by the members of Internal Quality Assurance Cell\, faculty of PG and Research Department of Tamil and History. \nHave a look at this : \n \n

Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\nEntrepreneurship Development Cell\nLaunching the English Newsletter of Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation & E 2 G Forum\n02.08.2022\nThe launching event of the English Newsletter of Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation and Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Forum           (E 2 G Forum) was held at the Seminar Hall of our College at 10.30 a.m in the presence of our Respected Principal Dr.P. Bala Shanmuga Devi.  \nThe programme started with the Introductory Address of Mr.P. Ganesan\, Deputy General Manager\, Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation\, Thoothukudi who briefed the programmes and activities conducted by Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation\, Vizhuthugal Scholarship for needy students\, schemes of DIC and TIIC to promote entrepreneurship among students.  \nSpecial Address was given by our Principal Dr.P. Bala Shanmuga Devi who appreciated the activities and efforts taken by the Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation and expressed her thanks to the chief guests Mr.D. Senthil Kannan and Mr.B. Subburaj for gracing the occasion by sharing their expertise.  \nMr.B.Subburaj\, Proprietor\, Subha Graphics and Joint Secretary of Thudtissia advised the students to become skilful by developing their potentialities and seeking guidance from Thuditissia. \n The English Newsletter of Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation and Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Forum was released by the Chief Guest Mr.D.Senthil Kannan\, Founder Director\, PALMS\, A Soft Skill Training Organisation\, Thoothukudi.  \nMr.Senthil Kannan motivated the students to think creatively and start business with innovative ideas. He informed the students that they can get financial assistance through Thuditssia\, and other organisations to convert their innovative ideas into commercially viable products.  \nThe arrangements for the programme were made by the members of Entrepreneurship Development Cell and 87 students of EDC attended the programme. \nInvitation

SUMMARY:International Tiger Day Awareness Programme
DESCRIPTION:A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\nInternational Tiger Day awareness programme \n29.07.2022\n       An International Tiger Day Awareness Programme was held at A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi. \n       On behalf of Zoology Department of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, an awareness pamphlet on           International Tiger Day and conservation of endangered tigers was distributed to the public. \n       Our college President\, Thiru A.P.C.V. Chockalingam  and Secretary Tmt. C. Subbulakshmi  presided over the programme.  \n       Dr. H. Kohila Subathra Christy\, Head of P.G. Department of Chemistry delivered the keynote address.  \n       A speech competition on tiger conservation was held among the students.  \n       Dr. K. Meenakshi selected the best speakers.  \n       The principal of the college\, Dr. P. Bala Shanmuga Devi\, gave away the prizes and appreciated. \n       The arrangements for the programme were made by Dr. V. SUMMARY:Student Induction Programme
DESCRIPTION:A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\,\nThoothukudi.\nStudent Induction Programme\n                  Student Induction Programme is being organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi\, for the freshers to make them familiar with the college and its activities.  \n                 As part of the programme\, a general orientation programme was arranged on 28th and 29th July\, 2022. The Principal\, Dr. P. Bala Shanmuga Devi welcomed the gathering.  \n               The heads of various departments addressed the students on the rules and regulations of the college\, activities of various clubs\, associations\, and cells\, examination system\, extension activities and all student support services.  \n                    Dr. T. Lilly Golda\, IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor of English proposed a vote of thanks.  \n                 It was proposed to conduct sessions on Health and Hygiene\, Youth and Civic Responsibilities\, Eco Consciousness. It was also planned to invite notable alumna to address the freshers.  \n                    The members of IQAC had made all the arrangements.

Mahalaxmi College for Women\,\nThoothukudi.\nInservice Training Programme for Science Teachers of Thoothukudi District\n25.07.2022 & 26.07.2022\n        Tamil Nadu State Council for Science & Technology\, Chennai and the PG & Research Department of Chemistry\, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women\, Thoothukudi jointly organized “Inservice Training Programme for Science Teachers of Thoothukudi District” in two phases. \n         Phase I training was conducted on 25.07.2022 & 26.07.2022. \n         Dr.H.Kohila Subathra Christy\, Coordinator\, Head & Assistant Professor of Chemistry welcomed the gathering. \n         Dr. P. Bala Shanmuga Devi\, Principal\, A. P. C. Mahalaxmi College for Women presided over the programme. \n      Mrs.T.Tamil Selvi\, District Educational Officer\, Thoothukudi District and Mrs.Pearcial Gnanamani\, Assistant Project Officer\, Thoothukudi inaugurated the programme and offered felicitations. \n         Fifty teachers from various schools of Thoothukudi district Resource persons have attended the programme and benefited. \n        After attending this programme\, the participants became more professionally competent. They got familiar with the various tools available for the creation of digital and innovative science education content. Finally\, they acquired a quality orientation in the teaching-learning processes. \n \n
