National Energy Conservation Day jointly organised by the Department of Physics and the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL), Thoothukudi Electricity Distribution Circle and Division – 18.12.2025

The National Energy Conservation Day was celebrated on 18th December 2025 at 10.00 a.m. at A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, jointly organised by the Department of Physics and the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL), Thoothukudi Electricity Distribution Circle and Division. The primary objective of the event was to create awareness among students about the importance of energy, its efficient utilisation, and the need to conserve energy resources for future generations.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Event Coordinator and Head of the Department of Physics, Prof. Dr. N. Rathna. This was followed by special addresses by Executive Engineers Mrs. Remona, Mr. Chinnadurai, and Mr. Devaraj, who highlighted the vital role of energy conservation in national development and environmental protection.

A total of 100 students participated in the programme and benefited from the sessions. Various competitions such as Quiz, Rangoli, and Mime were conducted under the theme “Save Energy, Save the Future”, and prizes were awarded to the winners. Assistant Engineers, faculty members, and students actively participated in the event.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. P. Saraswathi, Assistant Professor of Physics, and the event came to a successful close with the National Anthem.
