The department started functioning in the year 2003. The department is committed to provide quality education in Physics that will make the students excel in the competencies and values required for leadership to serve a rapidly evolving global community. The department  offers  value added courses namely “Coral Draw”, “Adobe Photoshop” and “C Programming language” to enhance the technical skills of the students. Student centered programme is arranged by the students of the department. International Conference, Workshops, Guest lectures are organized for the benefit of student community. Eminent faculties like  Mrs. S. Vallimeena,  Mrs. L. Babiyola, Mrs. P. Maheswari, Mrs. A.S.I. Joy Sinthiya also served in this department. At present the department is headed under the leadership of Mrs. R.Suya Padhra Haridha. Miss.D.Mariselvi, Mrs.R.Vijayalakshmi, Dr.N.Rathna and Miss.S.Ananthi are the other faculties working in the department . Many of our alumnae are placed in banks, colleges, schools and also in IT fields. There are 15 University rank holders in the department from the year of establishment.
