On this occasion, the principal of the college, Dr. P. Bala Shanmuga Devi gave a welcome address.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Karthikeyan, Thoothukudi presided over as the special invitee.Â
Then he addressed the students as:
Today you are a student, tomorrow you are a wife and then you are the head of the family to enrich your life. If you look at who are the criminals who are involved in many recent incidents, 75 percent of them take various drugs and make mistakes in ignorance, forgetting what we are in.
In this situation, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has requested to create awareness about this in schools and colleges for a week. As part of that I am now addressing you.
You are paying money to get education and knowledge. In that period you are protecting your welfare. You should only think about how to set up your future life and don’t give likes to unnecessary posts on WhatsApp, Facebook etc.
After college, when we are looking for a husband, we check in various ways whether he has a good education, does a good job, whether his salary is enough to lead our family and get married. In the same way as we pay attention to this, if there are people who are going on the wrong path among our family members but also among our relatives, we should tell them about the effects of drugs and prevent them from taking them.
Due to the consumption of various drugs, the body organs are affected in all ways such as brain damage. So you should take awareness about drug prevention to everyone, he said.
